Jane Collins Cathey
Jane Collins Cathey, 99, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at Spring Creek Health Care and Rehabilitation in Murray.
She was born Sept. 29, 1924, in Calloway County, Kentucky, to Edward Dennis Kirks and Ruby Jewell (Walker) Kirks.
She was a homemaker and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, family, and friends. She was known for her cooking, canning, sewing and growing beautiful flowers.Memories of Jane will be cherished by many surviving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harrison G. Collins, whom she married May 26, 1946; her second husband, Thomas O. Cathey; brothers, Edward “Dee” Kirks, Pat Kirks and Tommy Kirks; and sisters, Maddie Jo Ross, Ruth Mills and Annette Smith.
The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. (noon) Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, in the chapel of Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home with Brett Miles and Martin Severns officiating.Burial will follow in Barnett Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at the funeral home.

Jerry Glenn Thomas
Jerry Glenn Thomas, 70, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at his home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1953, in Hickman County, Kentucky, to Sammie Thomas Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Partee) Thomas of Columbus, Kentucky.
He retired from Hutson Ag Services in Murray and was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father and wife Ethel (Reed) Thomas.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughters, Maurice Thomas and Melanie Thomas (Jorge Reyes) of Murray; grandchildren, Malik Idlette, Mia Thomas, of Florida, Kayla Thomas, Joessiah Reyes, Gabbi Reyes, and Kylan Vaughn, of Murray; two brothers, Donnie Thomas Sr, of Murray and Ronnie Thomas of Paducah; four sisters, Janet Thomas Williams of Wingo, Charlotte Thomas Morris of Mayfield, Bonnie Thomas of Columbus and Reba Thomas of Paducah.A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends also survive.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, in the chapel of Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home with Anthony Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at the funeral home.

Burnette Farley
Burnette Farley, 81, of Paducah, Kentucky, formerly of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at home in the company of his wife and large family of pets.
He was born Oct. 2, 1942, in Murray, to O.B. and Rovine Farley.
He attended Murray High School and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a brick layer for several years, a trade he learned from his father; then at General Tire in Mayfield. He later worked as a fireman at Ft. Cambell Army Base in civil service until he retired. He attended Temple Baptist Church and Schneidman Road Baptist Church in Paducah. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #105 F. & A.M. in Murray. He enjoyed spending time at home with his pets, watching UK basketball, gardening, fishing, bargain hunting, and cooking. He was well known for the hot sweet mustard that he made. He was a friendly fun-loving man who enjoyed playing pranks on people and was always willing to help someone in any way he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Margie Farley; sister, Sharon Colson; stepbrother, Terry Allbritton; infant daughter, Donna Farley; and special little companion, Critter.
Burnette is survived by his wife, Maxine; his brother, Mike Farley and wife Debbie of Murray; his son, Keith Farley of Longmont, Colorado; daughter, Kim Kernell and husband Kevin of Rogersville, Tennessee; two grandsons, Clayton Kernell and wife Tiffany of Murray and Aaron Kernell and wife Amber of Rogersville; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Brian Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, at the funeral home.
